Who is exploited?

What makes people vulnerable to exploitation?

Poverty, lack of education, and belonging to a marginalized group are all factors that increase risk of trafficking, but human trafficking can and has affected people from all walks of life.

Those from impoverished regions are most often exploited with false promises of better jobs elsewhere, only to be enslaved.

In addition, children who runaway from physically, emotionally, or sexually abusive homes are often exploited. It is said that these homes are training grounds for exploitative trafficking.
