Kru Nam - Thailand
Kru Nam is an artist and modern-day abolitionist from Northern Thailand who has rescued and prevented over 125 children from being trafficking into slavery in the sex industry. She and her organization, Volunteers for Children's Development Foundation (VCDF), run a Children's Home providing education, health services, shelter, food and vocational skills to stateless children in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
Since 2007, with help from her partners at the Not For Sale Campaign (NFS) and their fundraising efforts, Kru Nam has been able to build a small village for the children that includes two dormitories, a medical clinic, and basketball courts. The work that Kru Nam does in rescuing children from forced sex trafficking and providing them with a safe place to call home is an example not only of immense courage, but also of overwhelming love and an inspiring passion for human rights.
